Washing Your Face Section

FLAWLESS TIP Nº1. WASHING YOUR FACE

THERE'S MORE TO WASHING YOUR FACE THAN WASHING YOUR FACE

"It is important to cleanse your skin at least once a day. Regardless of the type of skin you have. Washing it with more than just water is important. Water alone does not lift the impurities deep down in your pores the way a good cleanser can. It is also important to use a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. If you have sensitive skin, try a mild cleanser"

For the color of flawless skin wash your face with AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Exfoliating Wash, AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Foaming Cleanser or AMBI® Complexion Cleansing Bar

Make cleansing part of your daily routine. Keeping skin clean reduces the incidence of pimples, blemishes, and blackheads that can take a toll on the youthful and even appearance of your skin. Use a gentle exfoliator

or a warm, moist washcloth to softly remove dead skin cells; and be sure to cleanse both your face and neck.

TIP 1: First things first, get to know your skin type: normal, oily, dry or combination. You can always consult with your dermatologist or beauty care expert. Click here to learn about your skin type.

TIP 2: Try using the AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Foaming Cleanser, a hypo-allergenic cleanser that is gentle enough for all skin types that leaves skin feeling clean and smooth.

TIP 3: A gentle exfoliator like the AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Exfoliating Wash, is a great option to help slough off dead skin cells while cleaning impurities so that skin can breath, leaving skin more radiant and smooth.

TIP 4: Facial cleansing bars such as AMBI® Complexion Cleansing Bar, AMBI® Cocoa Butter Bar, and AMBI® Black Soap are great options created especially for women of color that fit the needs of women with all types of skin.

Acne Section

FLAWLESS TIP Nº2. GETTING RID OF ACNE

ACNE, DON'T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE!

"Acne is caused by a variety of factors. You can help improve acne by using a gentle cleanser morning and night. Products using salicylic acid that penetrate deep to cleanse pores are helpful. Water is not a sufficient way to wash your face. After cleansing please moisturize with at least SPF 30 to prevent further discoloration from possible acne scars. Acne is not only a problem for teenagers but also does effect adults. So you're not alone. Using lots of makeup to hide dark marks and blotchiness can lead to pimples, breakouts and unhealthy skin"

For the color of flawless skin wash your face with AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Exfoliating Wash, AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Foaming Cleanser or AMBI® Complexion Cleansing Bar.

Blackheads and blemishes appear as a result of oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria embedded in pores and a bad cleansing regimen. For women of color, squeezing blackheads causes further disruption to the skin, leading to more blemishes. Acne is one of the biggest challenges for women trying to achieve healthy skin. Whether you have mild or severe acne, there are multiple effective treatments for you. Stick to a consistent skin management program to achieve healthy and beautiful skin

TIP 1: You can help improve acne by using a gentle cleanser morning and night. Products using salicylic acid that penetrate deep to cleanse pores are helpful; try AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Exfoliating Wash and AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Foaming Cleanser. You can also exfoliate weekly with a mask using alpha - or beta-hydroxy acids to help prevent new breakouts.

TIP 2: Only use water-based or oil-free make-up, especially if you have oily skin. Specifically, look for products labeled non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, or that say "doesn't clog pores." Avoid oily pomades, gels, and hair sprays. Silicon-based products can be an alternative when styling hair.

Dark Marks and Hyper-pigmentation Section

FLAWLESS TIP Nº3. HOW TO DEFEAT DARK MARKS

BEFORE AND AFTER NEVER LOOKED SO CLEAR

"Hyper-pigmentation or dark marks are created by many skin problems like acne, dry skin or other rashes. Do not rub, pick or scratch the area as this will worsen the problem. Using lots of makeup to hide dark marks and blotchiness can lead to pimples, breakouts and unhealthy skin. Try using a fade cream to safely and effectively fade away the dark spots. The key is to use it only on the dark spots."

For the color of flawless skin use AMBI® Fade Cream or Targeted Mark Minimizer and protect with the AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30.

Because women of color have more pigment in their skin in the first place, they are more likely to be affected by hyper-pigmentation and blotchy skin discoloration on the face and other parts of the body—such as elbows, knees, and underarms. Hyper-pigmentation results from trauma to the skin such as injury, acne, sunlight, skin disease and plucking unwanted hair. So, take care ladies.

TIP 1: Hydroquinone is a dermatologist-recommended ingredient that can be used to safely lighten dark areas of skin. These discolorations can appear when rich skin tones heal following any skin aggravation — such as a burn, acne, cut, scrape, or sun exposure. When applied to the affected area, hydroquinone slows the production of melanin, gradually helping even skin tone. Hydroquinone is the key ingredient in AMBI® Fade Cream products which help fade skin discolorations. Try adding AMBI® Fade Cream to your skincare regimen to help reduce the appearance of dark marks and discoloration.

TIP 2: Different types of skin have specific skincare needs; click here to learn about your skin type.

TIP 3: For more sensitive skin types, consider using AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Targeted Mark Minimizer. It uses a unique triple action formula, combining Vitamins A, C, and E, to help visibly reduce the appearance of dark marks in a gentler way.

TIP 4: It is important to use sun protection when using AMBI® Fade Creams and every day. If you skin is exposed to the sun, the dark marks that had faded will begin to reappear. Use of a facial moisturizer with SPF not only helps to protect your skin from potential sun damage, but also helps to prevent the dark marks from reappearing. So use AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 every day after cleansing.

Getting to Know Your Skin Section

FLAWLESS TIP Nº6. KNOW YOUR SKIN

HIGH SKIN I.Q. HERE

The way you eat, exercise, sleep, and cope with stress has a direct impact on the health of your skin. Following a balanced lifestyle regimen will keep you looking your best inside and out. So it's important to get to know your unique skin type before planning your daily skincare routine.

There are four major types of skin, you can consult your dermatologist or try to assess your skin type by considering the following characteristics:

Oil is evenly distributed and there is no extra shine. After cleansing the face, skin does not look dry or oily. Acne breakouts are less frequent.

Skin that appears shiny or greasy up to two to three hours after cleansing the skin. Excess oil contributes to blackheads, blemishes, and enlarged pores.

After cleansing the face, skin feels dry and tight and possibly even itchy. There also is the appearance of skin cells and flakiness, which may appear to look ashy.

A mixture of oily and dry skin types, with more blemishes and skin irritation frequenting the T-zone area. Oiliness can be more prevalent on the forehead and nose while cheeks are flaky and dry.

No matter what your skin type, the way you eat, exercise, sleep, and cope with stress has a direct impact on the health of your skin. Following a balanced lifestyle regimen will keep you looking your best inside and out.

TIP 1: Drink eight glasses of plain water per day.

TIP 2: Establish healthy habits such as an eating plan that offers a variety of nutrients for your body, do not smoke, and watch your alcohol intake.

Protecting Your Skin Section

FLAWLESS TIP Nº7. PROTECT YOUR SKIN

DON’T SLEEP ON YOUR SKIN PROTECTION

"After cleansing, please moisturize with at least SPF 30 to prevent further discoloration from possible acne scars. While having more melanin in your skin can provide some skin protection properties, it is essential to protect your skin from the sun every day. No matter how rich your skin-tone you should protect your skin from damage by routinely using sunscreen to protect your skin with an SPF of at least 30. Re¬apply every 2 hours if sun exposure continues. And remember to apply it every day rain or shine."

For the color of flawless skin protect it with AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Daily Moisturizer.

All women and all types of skin need sunscreen. While dark skin does have skin-protecting properties and melanoma, the deadliest type of skin cancer, is less common among African Americans as compared to Caucasians, going sans sunscreen still puts women of darker skin color at risk for developing skin cancer, and increases the effects of aging and the appearance of dark spots. Women of color should look for skin care and make-up products that contain sunscreen at least an SPF of 30 or should apply sunscreen as a base prior to make-up application. And remember, UV rays reach the Earth's surface so sunscreen should be worn throughout the year, rain or shine.

TIP 1: Ethnic skin provides some built-in sunblock against harmful rays, but its natural protection (a low-level SPF) is not enough. Although skin cancer is less prevalent among women of color than Caucasians, it can still manifest itself. Apply sun block with a sun protection factor between 20 and 30 as sun brings out dark marks. Try AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30.

TIP 2: The sun's rays can damage your skin every day, even if it seems cloudy. It is important to use a daily moisturizer with SPF every day to minimize exposure to damaging UVA and UVB rays. Adding AMBI® EVEN & CLEAR Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 to your daily routine can help protect your skin from the sun's rays and help prevent dark marks from becoming more noticeable.

TIP 3: What does 'SPF' mean? SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is an indication of your protection from UVB rays. It does not address protection from UVA rays. The SPF value on a sunscreen product indicates how much longer you are able to stay out in the sun before getting a sunburn when protected by the sunscreen. For example, if your "natural burning time" is 5 minutes in the sun, a properly applied SPF 30 sunscreen will protect you from burning 30-times longer or about 150 minutes. The higher the SPF number, the longer your skin is protected before it begins to burn.
